After a dark, cold winter, springtime in the Smokies is pure magic! From the budding flowers to the fresh green of the summer leaf canopy, the colors and light in the spring are brilliant. Capture these fresh signs of life through your own lens in our Springtime in the Smokies photography workshop.
This course covers the use of light, composition, and equipment to capture beautiful mountain landscapes, intimate stream scenes, close-ups, wildlife, sunrises, and more. The primary emphasis is fieldwork with ample opportunity for one-on-one instructor time. Meals, presentations, and free time are organized and often modified around weather conditions to maximize photographic opportunities. Field trip locations include the Foothills Parkway, the Elkmont historic area, and exclusive early access to Cades Cove before the gate opens to the public.
The long weekend concludes with an image review session to discuss the techniques and aesthetics of participant images. The workshop is designed for all levels of expertise, from beginners to intermediates and beyond. Let your surroundings serve as fresh inspiration for your work — this is the only residential photography workshop that takes place inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
