Misty Copeland at the Cannon Center
Cultural Arts for Everyone (CAFE) Presents: An Unforgettable Afternoon with Misty Copeland Join us for a powerful and inspiring afternoon with Misty Copeland, the first African American female Principal Dancer with American Ballet Theatre. This special event will feature a moderated conversation with Misty, live performances by local dance companies, and a screening of her short film FLOWER. This moving ballet-on-film tells the story of a family caregiver navigating housing insecurity in Oakland, California.

FLOWER premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2023, screened at major film festivals across the United States and at the White House, and was nominated for an NAACP Image Award.
The afternoon will conclude with an intimate interview exploring how ballet can continue to grow, evolve, and meet this moment.
